WINOOSKI CALLING  is a new album by Steve Blodgett written and recorded over the past few years in Winooski, where he lives.

Steve grew up in Vermont listening to the hits come in over the radio at night when reception was good.  He wrote his first song at 14, filled with admiration for the Everly Brothers sounds,  and he wrote most of the original songs for his high school rock group, Mike & the Ravens.  After high school, in the early and mid-60s,  he recorded in Boston and New York, with 45 rpm singles released on Empire, RCA Victor, Decca and Compass Records.  A high point of his early band career was performing at Rollerland in Plattsburgh NY in summer 1962 with pop stars of the day such as Brian Highland (Sealed With A Kiss), Tommy Roe (Sheila), Curtis Lee (Pretty Little Angel Eyes) Ray Peterson (Tell Laura I Love Her) and others.

Mike & the Ravens re-grouped in the mid-2000s;  Steve wrote most of the songs on their three new albums, released on Zoho Records, NYC and Playground Records, Helsinki Finland.  He wrote many of the songs on the first two albums by the Finnish group, Them Bird Things, also on Playground Records.

He says: "I try to write songs that are visual ... Ideally, I would like them to have a mood as deep and affecting as a dream."
